THE PRESS
 20th century:

Journalism aimed at the working class and started emphasizing in sensational topics. Socialist labor newspaper started proliferated as the Daily Herald.
Importance of the press peak during the World War I.

21st century:
The British press, such as The Sun, Mirror, Daily Star, is repeatedly accused of being untrustworthy and irresponsible; of poisoning political debate and undermining the democratic process; of inciting hostility against immigrants and ethnic minorities; and of coarsening public life by promoting a sleazy and intrusive celebrity culture.



TELEVISION


Television in the United Kingdom started in 1936 as a public service which was free of advertising. 
Digital terrestrial:
Television launched in 1998 as a subscription service named ONdigital. Since October 2002, the primary broadcaster is Freeview, which is free of charge to view.
Cable television:
There were many regional companies when cable television services were developed in the late 1980s and 1990s. Today they have amalgamated to become Virgin Media, which is available to 55% of households. 
RADIO
Radio in the United Kingdom is dominated by the BBC, which operates radio stations both in the United Kingdom and abroad. The BBC World Service radio network is broadcast in 33 languages globally. Domestically the BBC also operates ten national networks and over 40 local radio stations including services in Welsh, Gaelic Gàidheal in Scotland and Irish in Northern Ireland.

THE HOUSE OF HANNOVER The house of Hannover is  a German royal dynasty that reigned  in Great Britain from 1714 to the foundation of United Kingdom in 1801, and since then, until 1901 when Victoria I died and her son  Edward II ascended the throne. he House of Hanover was formally named the  House of Brunswick-Lüneburg, Hanover line , as it was originally a  cadet branch  of the House of Brunswick-Lüneburg. The senior branch became extinct in 1884, and the House of Hanover is now the only surviving branch of the  House of Welf , which is the senior branch of the  House of Este . The current head of the House of Hanover is  Ernest Augustus, Prince of Hanover -RULERS House of Hanover, British royal house of German origin, descended from George Louis, elector of Hanover , who succeeded to the British crown, as George I , in 1714. Oprah Winfrey Oprah Winfrey was born in 1954, born into poverty in rural Mississippi to a teenage single mother.  She is s an American media proprietor, talk show host, actress, producer, and philanthropist. She is best known for her talk show: The Oprah Winfrey Show, which was the highest-rated television program of its kind in history and was nationally syndicated from 1986 to 2011 in Chicago.   Dubbed the "Queen of All Media", she was the richest African American of the 20th century North America's first multi-billionaire black person and has been ranked the greatest black philanthropist in American history. The movie critic Roger Ebert persuaded her to sign a syndication deal with King World. Ebert predicted that she would generate 40 times as much revenue as his television show, At the Movies.
